Rekindle x Switzerland
Stepping back into Lena’s hometown after six years away was like opening a well-loved book—familiar yet still trickled with surprises. There’s something deeply comforting about a place that remembers you, even if it’s been a while. What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery, but the Swiss way of life: intentional, unfussy, and quietly elegant. People live smaller, slower, and with remarkable discernment—homes are modest in size but rich in quality, where every object feels considered. It reminded us of why we do what we do.
It was lovely to see how farm shops have become part of everyday life too—each one stocked with fresh vegetables, homemade preserves, and a kind of quiet generosity. And while it might sound simple, the Swiss have truly mastered the art of the salad—each one vibrant, with the kind of dressing you wish you could bottle and bring home. It all felt like a gentle reminder: live simply, choose well, and let quality lead.

Rekindle x Italy
There’s something undeniably special about Italy in summer—days seem to stretch out longer, filled with laughter spilling from cafés, conversations lingering over shared meals, and an ease that’s hard to put into words. In Tuscany, we were especially struck by the architecture: ancient stone buildings, often centuries old, standing quietly proud. And we loved how natural materials were woven into everyday living—the use of wood and stone in homewares and utensils was a quiet standout.
One of our most memorable experiences was a private dinner in a local family’s garden. They served a four-course meal made entirely from their land—wine from the vines behind us, olive oil from their grove, vegetables just picked. There was laughter, good food, and a sense of genuine connection. That evening summed up Italy for us: generous, grounded, and full of life.

Rekindle x Germany
While our time in Hendrik’s hometown and Germany as a whole was brief, it offered a quiet kind of inspiration—especially in the way furniture has been used historically.
We were drawn to the simplicity of old farmhouse pieces: pared-back, practical, and enduring. There’s a certain beauty in their restraint—nothing overly ornate, but still softened by thoughtful details that add a gentle charm.
It’s a design sensibility that feels deeply familiar to us: honest, useful, and made to last. That raw timber, that unfussy elegance—it’s the kind of aesthetic echoed across Europe, where farmhouse furniture has lasted for generations. It’s part of what inspired us to start Rekindle in the first place —a desire to honour that quiet longevity and bring it into homes today with the same sense of purpose and care.
